Valve Steam Machine 512GB + Steam Controller

Valve Steam Machine — your entire Steam library under the TV

Steam Machine is Valve's attempt to make PC gaming as straightforward as a console, without stopping being a PC. You log into your Steam account and your library is there — including the big titles. According to Valve, it has over six times the power of a Steam Deck.

What's in the box

The foundation is a partly customised AMD platform: a Zen 4 processor with six cores and twelve threads, and an RDNA 3 graphics unit with 28 compute units. Combined with 16 GB DDR5 as system memory and separate 8 GB GDDR6 as graphics memory. Valve specifies 4K gaming with FSR 4.1 upscaling.

Storage is 512 GB NVMe, and there's a microSD card slot if you want to expand it without opening the unit.

Size is the whole point

The entire machine is a cube roughly 16 centimetres across, and the power supply is built in — so no power brick needs hiding behind the TV stand. Valve describes it as cool and quiet even when demanding games are running.

Connections

DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 for displays, Gigabit Ethernet for the network, one USB-C and four USB-A for peripherals. For wireless, there's 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E with dedicated antenna and Bluetooth 5.3.

On the front is an LED strip that shows system status — for example how far a download has progressed — even when the screen is off. It can be customised in colour or turned off.

Controller included

This variant comes with the Steam Controller. The receiver for the wireless controller is built into the Steam Machine, so it pairs directly without an extra dongle.
